educational games - going to school and learning
An Elementary educational game
can cover various facets of the educational experience, from math, music,
history, science, reading, to English. When you are looking for an
educational game for an elementary aged child you might want to consider
the following:
Age of the child:
a first grade child is going to need different levels of a game than a 5th
grade child. So be aware of the child’s age and development when
seeking out an elementary educational game.
Board/ card game:
what type of game are you looking for? A board game, one that travels,
how many pieces, how complicated (age does come into play here), what
does it teach? These are all things you should consider with a board
game.
Computer game-
hand held, or tower computer game. How interactive do you want this
elementary educational game to be? There are games that have multiple
cartridge or disks that allow the child to go from level to level with
ease and fun.
What subjects:
If your child has an interest in math, or needs to develop these skills,
a game that focuses on building math skills would be most appropriate.
Pay close attention to age level here as a math game for a six year old
is vastly different from a ten year old. There are games that just focus
on reading or phonics with no math or science. There are many elementary
educational games that touch on all subjects which can challenge the
child on many levels.
Specialty subjects-
Music, dinosaurs, dance, history and other specialty subjects that a
child might have an interest in are available in an elementary
educational game. Of course they also might touch on reading, English,
and math skills, but primarily they will cater to a certain subject.
Depending upon what goals you want your
child to gain, will help determine what type of elementary educational
game you purchase.
