Educational toy online – surfing and learningKids love to play games, and like to have fun the in process, what better way to combine the two activities than an educational game found on the internet. Computer games are more than just playing; they can be educational for a child. You do not need to go to a store to purchase an educational game you can find them on the internet. Here are some criteria you may want to think about when looking for an educational toy online: What age is the child? A game for a toddler like that focuses on memory, shapes, colors etc would probably not stimulate a child of 8. An educational computer game for a child of 8 should focus on reading, math and logical skills. This game would probably frustrate a 4 year old who has not yet mastered the art of reading. Generally, the ages on the side of the boxes of games can help indicate age appropriateness. What do you want to emphasize in learning? Each educational toy online for a child may have a specific goal in mind. Some may concentrate on colors, shapes, sound repetition, phonics, math, logic, reasoning, and memory. If the goal is to introduce phonics to a preschool aged child, try and find a game that can adapt and grow, with different levels as the child progresses. A computer game that concentrates on reasoning skills, where bits and pieces must be collected along the way to solve a mystery at the end, would suffice for building logic, reading, and reasoning skills. How long has the company been in business? The company may be flying by night, or they may have been around for years but just recently go into making educational games on the internet. There are many educational sites on the internet offering games that are available in stores and still others that may offer internet only games in the form of share/ freeware and money. (Free ware is a system in which you get to download the game for free; however there might be a spy ware or monitoring software attached. You often get what you pay for, and if it is free, there might be a catch). Children will be drawn to colorful computer games. There are plenty of educational toys online, for sale and a part of free ware or shareware, but parents should use caution and a basic set of rules to help choose the right educational computer game for a child.
