Some may concentrate on colors, shapes, sound repetition, phonics, math, logic, reasoning, and memory. If the goal is to introduce phonics to a preschool aged child, try and find a game that can adapt and grow, with different levels as the child progresses. A computer game that concentrates on reasoning skills, where bits and pieces must be collected along the way to solve a mystery at the end, would suffice for building logic, reading, and reasoning skills.

How long has the company been in business? The company may be flying by night, or they may have been around for years but just recently go into making educational games on the internet. There are many educational sites on the internet offering games that are available in stores and still others that may offer internet only games in the form of share/ freeware and money. (Free ware is a system in which you get to download the game for free; however there might be a spy ware or monitoring software attached. You often get what you pay for, and if it is free, there might be a catch).
