Buying an educational toy can be such fun, but it can also prove overwhelming. Knowing what you are looking for helps and by answering a few questions before you go buying an educational toy you will prove to have an enjoyable and fruitful experience.

What sex is the child? A little girl might be more interested in a doll than a truck. Of course in this day and age of political correctness she might like the truck. A quick call to Mom or Dad to find out her preferences will help before buying an educational toy.

The age of the child is also important. A nine year old is not going to appreciate a preschool aged toy, nor is a 4 year old going to like to play something that requires a great deal of reading. Knowing the age of the child will make buying an educational toy easier.
